October’s going to be fun
So I found out that I won’t be in school anymore until after the holiday season is finished I can read as much as I possibly want… and will. It’s Hallowe’en season and I’m ready to start reading more thrillers and things. I now have time to watch movies and listen to Hallowe’en themed music while cooking, reading and writing blogs. I’m super excited since it is my favorite time of year, where I can shop for home decor in stores and not look like a weirdo asking when they’re getting stuff in. I have yet to figure out what I’m actually going to be doing the night of, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be dressing up the day-of.
Now, on to what I’ll be reading this month! I’ve started a pretty big pile, so I’m hoping to get through as many as possible. The book I’m currently reading is Wicked: Witch and Curse. So far it’s reminding me of one of my favorite series Sweep which is awesome. I’ve been eyeing this book for a while on the shelves of my local library (the haven for broke booknerds) and finally took the plunge and snagged it. It’s sort of fast-paced in places, and slow in some. I’m only three chapters in and I’m hoping it gets better since it is a bind-up of two books.
Another book I grabbed to read and hopefully start the series is Patrick Ness’ The Knife of Never Letting Go . I’ve heard such good things about this book and I read More Than This a little while ago which was amazing. I’m also trying to get caught up with the Miss Peregrine’s trilogy by reading Hollow City so I can read the next one when the library gets a copy in.
I have a cute contemporary to read and review this month called Signs Point to Yes which comes out October 20th, 2015. I read three chapters in like 10 minutes, it’s going to be an easy and fast read for me. I’m also being super ambitious with the next few books I plan on reading this month, haha. The next one I hopefully can read is The Merciless which is like Mean Girls, occult style. I mean, it has a bright pink cover with an upside-down pentagram in gold on it.
The following book I’m going to attempt to read is Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell which I’ve had for what seems like forever on my shelf. I’m feeling this will be a good one for me to read since it does take place way back in time (1806 btw) and is about magicians. I’m excited to finally grab this and write it off on my to-read list on Goodreads. I’m also hoping to start on A Discovery of Witches this month sometime. I’ve been wanting to read this for a while, borrowed it once from the library and didn’t get a chance to actually read it. I’ve seen some good and bad reviews for it, but I let it “shoo” me away from it the first time so I’m gonna just go for it.
I have two books on my Kindle I plan on reading this month. The first one is The Little Stranger which seemed cool when I saw it advertised on Facebook. I’m only like a chapter in right now, so I can’t really say how I’m liking it just yet. It seems promising just from the first chapter though. The final book I plan on reading this month on my Kindle is *drum rolls* Frankenstein. It’s free on Kindle so I don’t even have to buy it! woo!
Well that is everything I plan on reading this month. Let’s hope I get it all done so I have some good stuff to talk about at the end of the month. Last month I kind of finished the series I had been reading all that month, so nothing exciting to write about since I did a post about it here. Let me know what you’re planning on reading this month and what your plans are for the season!
