My O.W.L.’s TBR 2020

So, it’s time for me to plan out my TBR (To Be Read) pile of TWELVE books I want to try to get to for this years O.W.L.’s Magical Readathon. It is hosted by G from Book_Roast  and it’s apparently the third year of it! The readathon goes all month of April, which is nice since most of us are going to be trying to do all 12 prompts. So, here’s my TBR for it.

First off, you have to choose a career that you want to get classes for (in G’s video she has links to everything, including printable worksheets and the discord group if you wanna talk to other Harry Potter junkies). I chose to be “Trader of Magical Tomes” and to take a Animagus Training class as well. So, Here’s the books I chose (also remember I go into my books basically blind, so there isn’t going to be an actual description, but there will be a goodreads link if you hover over the title)!

For Ancient Runes: I chose Shuffle, Repeat by Jen Klein. The prompt was a Heart Rune: a book with a heart on the cover (which this cover does) or heart in the title.

Charms: I chose Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Steifvater. This is the third book in the Raven Cycle quartet. The prompt was White on the cover.

History of Magic: I chose Truthwitch by Susan Dennard. This is the first book in the Witchlands series. The prompt was book/series featuring witches/wizards.

Transfiguration: I selected Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Yep, I just did that. If you’ve even been living under a rock you would know what Twilight is. Anyhow, the prompt was a book/series with shape shifting… welp, werewolves are shape shifters! #teamjacob

Those are the prompts for my career, now onto my training class!

Arithamancy: I decided to try reading Jane Eyre, only because the prompt is a book outside your favourite genre. I actually hide from reading classics, but since good ‘ol Jane is slightly spooky (from what I’ve heard anyway) I’d give it a go.

Potions: I wanted to re-read this sooner than later, so I chose The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Yes, I know it’s a play, but it’s one of my favourites. The prompt is a book less than 150 pages, this one comes in at 143!

So, those are the ones I def have to get to.. the rest of these are just bonuses for later in the year when the N.E.W.T.’s come around!

Astronomy (book mostly read after dark): I chose a book I had on my kindle since it’s what I generally read on after its dark, the book is #Poser by Cambria Herbert. This is the 5th book in a series in case you go to take a peek at the synopsis.

Care of Magical Creatures (a book with a beak on the cover): I chose An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson.  This is about Fae, that’s really all I know truthfully.

Defense Against the Dark Arts (book set at the sea/coast): I selected Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim. I know this is a retelling of Count of Monte Cristo and that’s about it.

Divination (Random number generated): I had only three books placed out and I got Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan.  I know this is a fantasy, but that’s it. \_(-.-)_/

Herbology (a book that starts with “M”): I grabbed More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. I got this book forever ago and I’m excited to finally get to it!

Muggle Studies (read a contemporary): I decided on Morgan Matson’s Since You’ve Been Gone because I love her writing style and I’m slowly reading through all of her books.

And that’s it! I’m hoping to get through all 12 books and to gear up for the next round later on in the year.

HAPPY READING!
