Current Reads: October 2015

So, so far this month I’ve been sort of slacking in reading. I have no idea why I haven’t read more seeing I’m done with school for now. But I’ve only finished a short audio book this month and it’s already half-way over. *sigh* I’ve changed up my TBR list a bit, so it’s less books, but they’re larger books haha. I think I’ve been in a huge reading slump (thanks WICKED) and I couldn’t figure a way to get out of it seeing I don’t really care for graphic novels, which was suggested to me to help since they’re easy to read, but I finally did give up on the book, wrote down where I ended (it’s a library book so I can’t just post-it note my spot) and will eventually pick it back up when I’m ready. Plus I imagine it being over 100F outside doesn’t help either, when I’m too warm I’m pretty much a pile of moosh wanting to just stare at the TV and sleep IN the ac unit with my cats.

I’ve read the first book in the Wicked bind-up, but didn’t get far into the second book as it was getting pretty repetitive. I gave up on it after a chapter into the second book. I’ll maybe pick this back up in a few months and finish the bind-up and move on if the story gets better. The first book was slightly confusing until the third or fourth chapter, those chapters are frikken LONG too btw (not cool, yo). I wasn’t super impressed with the story seeing it’s slightly similar to Sweep (she’s a witch and didn’t know it.. blah blah blah) and of course there’s the love interest that was insta-love. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Am I reading a thriller book or a contemporary? Like FOR REALS, YO– WHYYYYYY?! I didn’t really get much of a backstory of why they wanted to kill her until nearing the end of the book. I’m giving it 2 out of 5 stars, it was three until insta-love.

Now I’m currently reading The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters. I’m roughly a quarter way into it and it’s alright. I don’t usually read adult fiction books, so it’s taking a bit to get used to.  I’m enjoying it, but I hate taking it places since it’s a hardback and weighs like 10lbs haha. Still not as bad as the Harry Potter books I guess hahahaha.

I’m also reading The Death Code by Lindsay Cummings on my kindle. LOVING it, I’m only wishing there was another book to this series! I don’t want it to enddddd!!! Yeah, it’s slightly gory with all the blood and killing, but hey– it’s October right now and why aren’t you reading those kind of books?! haha, I’m about half-way through it and seriously don’t want it to end. I mean, there is that novella I could read right after, but why would I do that to myself?

I have a few other books I might start and read along with the ones I’m currently reading to keep myself from falling back into a slump. The weather cooling down has definitely helped me wanna read since I’m not feeling like I’m going to die at any moment from heat stroke. I will check back in at the end of the month to let y’all know what I finished and what I didn’t.
