Books I’ve Been Loving
Well, today I have decided to sit and write about what books I’ve read in the last month or so. I’ve really gotten into reading more lately than ever. In the last month I’ve probably gone through 3 books, which probably isn’t much compared to some but was a lot for me. So, here we go on my reading journey!
The Statistical Probability of LOVE at FIrst Sight was a super good read. So much so I even lent it out to a coworker of mine who is reading it right now. I’m pretty sure I finished it in 3 days. The synopsis drew me in… Here’s the synopsis:
“Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?
Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan’s life. Having missed her flight, she’s stuck at JFK airport and late to her father’s second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley’s never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport’s cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he’s British, and he’s sitting in her row.
A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?
Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver’s story will make you believe that true love finds you when you’re least expecting it.”
It was suuuuuuuuuuuper good. Like “Woahhhh” good by the time you finished it.
Cinder was epic. I loooove retellings of classic stories like Cinderella. Except, this retelling is in like the super far future where cyborgs are the norm. I, also, read this in like four days. It is a pretty thick book after all. I’m excited to read the next THREE books in the Lunar Chronicles Series, plus the last book is coming out in the fall of this year. I’m super stoked about that. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a book series since Harry Potter came out when I was like 12. Here’s the synopsis for Cinder:
“Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.”
The last book I read last month was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Which was, of course, amazing the third or fourth time around. I had forgotten how much I loved those books and will most likely finish the series during the summer since I’m a horrible fan and never read the last two books published. Hope to see everyone soon as I am going on vacation and in hopes to scoop up some books while away.
