🎃Halloween Read-a-thon! 👻
Thank you to my good friend Kris for mentioning this amazing read-a-thon that I plan on doing! She got this from Lauren, who also is into the whole reading is cool thing as well. I get to use her cool headers and images for this posting, and thank you Lauren for allowing us to use them! I’m hoping to get all of these books actually read in October, plus a few others beforehand. So here it begins!
🕸Pretty self explanatory. There’s no “guidelines” if you think a cover is creepy for whatever reason then it counts!
💀I’m thinking that I will read “The Gathering“ by Dan Poblocki. It’s a middle-grade book about a haunted house. 💀
🕸By Supernatural or Paranormal I mean books that feature things such as: ghosts, vampires, witches, werewolves ect.
🕸 Example: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
💀The book I choose is… “Shiver“ by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve read this before, but I’ve been wanting to re-read this series for a while now. I own all of the books so I can totally just marathon reading this. 💀
🕸 In my opinion people are scarier than monsters so for Horror or Thriller this means a book where real people are the ones who are causing all the scariness.
🕸 Example: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
💀I’ve decided upon “The Hitchhiker“ by R. L. Stine. This is about as close as I can get to the “scary” being human. Thank goodness for Mr. Stine! Plus its super short which will help me reach the goal!💀
🕸 Again, pretty self explanatory. Fun fact: the witching hour is 3am-4am, but obviously I’m not going to force you all to read at that time 😅. Unless you’re like me and have insomnia. So just read a book after the sun has set! This doesn’t have to be done in one night! You can read a book at night for the duration of the read-a-thon.
💀I chose “This Savage Song“ by Victoria Schwab. I figured I’d stick with the spookyish theme and read about monsters and things without a love story attached. Plus, it’s on my kindle which will totally be how I read at night. Plus, that cover is just beautiful. 💀
🕸 There’s two options for this challenge. You can choose TRICK and read a scary book you’ve been putting off OR you can choose TREAT and read any book you want from ANY genre (not just horrors ect.)
💀I’m probably going to take a time out and read a fantasy for this challenge. It does still have some supernatural characters (trolls) and sounds amazing. The book is “Stolen Songbird“ by Danielle L. Jensen. I’ve heard a bunch of buzz on the youtubes and saw it at my library and had to grab it. 💀
🕸 Read six books! Your sixth book can be any scary book you want. Only do this if you want! I know how it is to feel intimidated by read-a-thons so I really wanted to try and make this as relaxing as possible. There’s probably no way I’m going to be able to do this, but it’s fun to try!
💀 I’m most likely going to try and get all 6 books read, so I’m going to try for another ebook since I usually fly through those. I’m gonna go for “Half Wild“ by Sally Green. It’s got warring witches and stuff which is totally perfect for this read-a-thon! 💀
This is all the books I’ve chosen for this read-a-thon! Thanks again to Lauren for creating this!
What are you planning on reading for this?
